Thrush and Candida

Thrush is the common name given to an overgrowth of the fungi/yeast Candida Albicans in the genital/vaginal or oral areas, or, in nursing mothers, also in the nipples.
Candida infections can also happen on the skin. Candida albicans can also overgrow internally, for more information see the Candida section.

Overgrowths of candida are common after:

Nursing Mothers
Antibiotic use
Digestive disturbances
In low immunity
High-sugar/alcohol diets.

Treatment must include the killing off of the candida, the rebalancing of the beneficial bacteria (to "crowd out" the candida), boosting the immune system, and of course soothing the itch with anti-inflammatory herbs is also important! We have special remedies for oral thrush in babies too.
